Privacy policy

We collect only what you type into our forms:

• Membership: your name, postal address, mobile number, email address and literary interest.
• Magazine subscription: your name, postal address, PIN code, mobile number, email address, the plan you chose and a screenshot of your UPI payment.
• Donation: your name, mobile number, email address and the amount.

With each form we also record the date, your IP address and the name of your browser. This helps us spot spam and repeated requests.

• To reply to you and process your request.
• To post the magazine to your address.
• To check your payment and send a receipt.
• To tell members about programmes, if you are a member.

Sahitya Bharati does not sell or share your details with anyone, and does not use them for advertising.

Payment screenshots are stored privately on our server. They are not on any public web address, and only office staff who handle subscriptions can open them.

We never ask for or store card numbers, UPI PINs or bank passwords. If anyone asks you for these in our name, please do not share them and tell us.

• Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a form is sent by a person and not a program. It sees your IP address and browser details.
• YouTube videos in the gallery load only when you press play. Until then nothing is sent to YouTube.
• Map links open Google Maps in a new tab only when you choose to follow them.
• If website statistics are switched on, Google Analytics counts page visits. It does not receive anything you type into a form.

The site sets one session cookie and one security cookie so that forms work and cannot be sent from another website. Both expire two hours after your last visit. We do not use advertising cookies.

Form records are kept for three years and then deleted. Payment screenshots are deleted along with the request they belong to. Receipts for donations are kept for as long as the accounts rules require.

You can ask to see the details we hold about you, to correct them or to delete them. Write to us from the email address you used in the form, or call the office, and we will do it within fifteen days.
