Why become a member

Sahitya Bharati is run by its members. The membership fee pays for the reading room, the library and part of the cost of printing the magazine, and it gives you a say in what we do next.

You do not need to be a writer to join. Most of our members are readers who enjoy a good book and good company.

What members receive

The magazine at home

Four quarterly issues and the Diwali annual issue, posted free of charge.
Early notice of programmes

Members hear about lectures and workshops a week before they are announced publicly.
Library borrowing

Borrow up to three books at a time from the Sahitya Bharati library.
A vote at the annual meeting

The general body meets every August to approve the accounts and elect the committee.
Reserved seats

Twenty seats are kept for members at every Vasant Vyakhyanmala lecture.

Membership fee

₹300 a year, or ₹3,000 for life membership. Students pay ₹100 a year.

Donate and support

Donations pay for the library, the annual issue and prizes for school competitions. Every rupee is accounted for in the annual report.
